Is this the first thing you see on the display after switching on the radio ?

Turn the radio off and then on you should see the display show -C- (Dash C Dash)

If it shows ERR after this the radio has lost it's security code. Happens when the battery had been disconnected.

If you've lost the code you'll need to get it decoded. Plenty of folks around can do this, Google Radio decode or e-bay. You'll need to give them the make/model and serial number of the radio. This info should be on a sticker somewhere on the radio. You'll need to take it out of the dash to see it.

I put the wrong code in and got the "ERR" message. How do I reset it so I can put the right code in? Do I have to unplug the battery or wait for it to reset itself?

Thanks,

Leave it disconnected. It might take a while. Each time you enter the wrong code, it adds more time until it will reset.

Ok I left the battery connected and about 2 hours later I was able to put the code in. Now I'll be more careful when I put the code in.

Thanks,

Yes sorry, you're right. It has to stay connected and off. It has a timer inside which won't run if it's disconnected!
