I have a silver 05 plate Mini One and this week noticed bubbling on the rear arches of the mini.

Has anyone else experienced this on a car so new? We checked it out with a friend and it's definately not been in a bump or anything. Not been painted over. I just wondered, before I go down the route of going to the Mini Dealer to query under the anti-corrosion warranty, I just thought I'd ask about others' experience with this. Is it a six year anti-corrosion warranty?

Thanks for your help.

rust will occur if the under arch isnt cleaned and mud and water are just sitting under there eating away at the metal, but i would still go to the dealer and complain as it is quite a new car to be rusting. let us no the outcome.

Most cars tend to have a 10 year anti-corrosion warranty nowadays, I'd certainly expect this from BMW.

Either pop to a dealer, or take a photo and email it in, and ask them what they will do for you.

Might be helpful to join this place, as it's strictly a MINI only forum. They'll wield far more info.

Thanks for your advice - it's actually not on the under arch but on the paintwork in front of the back wheel on the panel. I will call Parks Mini and find out what they say.

will let you know.

You won't get any rust under the arches as they are all lined with black plastic shields like most modern cars............rust on outer body panels on even the earliest new MINI's is most unusual even from stone chips, so it may be a rare fault in the original paint process unless there was previous accident damage repaired previously. Have you owned it since new?
I own an early 2002 MINI and have no visible rust anywhere, even the few stone chips seem to have no rust forming from them.
I believe the original 2005 rust warranty is for 8 years and remains valid providing all the free service inspections have been carried out.
