not sure what all that means but ive damaged 2 pairs of speakers now...first set was megavox and second was juice.
can anyone suggest/link me some speakers most suited to my head unit so its less likely i will blow them, i have no idea what to get. In the past i just would've gone for a high wattage...
i have an idea of these, but i'll see what the experts say! http://cgi.ebay.co.u...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT
oh just to add, if its any use, ive got some 6x9s under the rear seats
thanks for the advise guys!

The quality of speakers matters very much so too. I'm running JBL 6x9's (rated 125RMS apiece) straight from my 50W head unit, and have been doing so for over a year, and no problems to report

It also helps if you keep to the same brand for all your audio hardware. Companies will intentionally make their products work better when used in conjunction with another of their products (a JVC head unit may work best with JVC speakers).

any head unit on the market today has a 10amp fuse in it meaning that at most 120watts can run through it at any point...
4 channels=30watts...at most!! but even then you have to take the over head away for radio, cdplayer..and other internal crap....
so the manual says 19watts rms does it?...ok thas a start...
1st..dont buy jvc coaxals.. their poo!.. and @ 13cm your prob. turning the bass up and killing them anyway...
if you want quality get some infinity's... little more money but better sound!.

Features
· Reference 5.25" (13cm) 2-way 135W Speakers
· Power Handling, RMS 45 watts
· Power Handling, Peak 135 watts
· Sensitivity (2.83V @ 1m) 92dB
· Frequency Response 67Hz -21kHz
· Impedance 2 ohms
even at 2ohms they're ok for your headunit..
are you just replacing or are you upgrading the system bit by bit?

I used to have standard fit 16.5cm infinity 2 way speaks that were a direct replacement for standard Rover mini ones.
I wouldnt put 6x9's under the seats. Having attenpted this twice there is a noticeable difference in 'loudness' but after i modified my parecl shelf to take 6x9's therte is no going back.
All i would suggest is get a good set of speakers and a good head unit, correctly fitted will sound nice and will go loud enough.
Make sure wattages are matched as you say, make sure impedance is matched, and you could look at the frequency range of the speakers if you wanted to be very picky. I would recommend 3 way speakers. I had Infinity 2 way speakers and they sounded spot on, but were missing essential mid range (in my opinion).
Ive always got my gear from caraudiosecurity. They seem pretty good and reasonably priced.
Hope this helps.

the manual doesnt exactly say 19W RMS... the rms is just blank. i had a look at those infinitys, they look very nice, not too flashy...though will they get runied? i do have ot on full volume quite a lot and dont want to nacker a set of decent speakers... are there any 50W RMS 13cm ones?? just to be safe
oh and im just replacing my rubbish ones... not upgrading with amps/subs etc...
thanks
