Hi lads (and ladies, to be politically correct),

Just a quick question really, to GuessWorks (if I remembered correctly)

I remember a while back you had a post on here that mention about having coloured engines like yellow and gold. I just wondered what you said each of these colours mean't. I have a yellow engine - does that mean it's a recon?

Regards,

Luke.

Aha - so the mileage of the car could well correspond to that of the engine.. i.e., is the engine original?

It's yellow, and you can see it's yellow.. but it's 'patchy'.

If its a clean yellow either the previous owner has cleaned it or its a recent recon, if its dirty and you can tell its been driven all the time in the cars life then its most prob original.

All that being said, the best guide to an engine originality is the engine number and the V5...

Don't read anything into the colours, but in the main... Red A+ 1275; Yellow A+ 998, Green/Black etc OLD A Series..

But most overtime have been repainted by the owners..

someone said my mini had had a 1275 engine in it, and i remember that it was red aswell. but i didnt believe them as the logbook said it was 998, to be fair it drove like a bag of nails anyway, and like guessworks says, dont read too much into the colour. RUST IN PIECES old car, RUST IN PIECES!!!

Colour doesn't mean a lot these days! Take my engine for instance, used to be a 1275 which was red - had it overbored to 1293 and painted blue, then took it our for my current car and painted it Black!

With the number of different Engine paints available at frost you can have whatever colour you want!
