Time has come again to grease my mini up. The last time I tried i had a silly Sealy grease gun which seemed to squirt more on me than in the car - not sure any went where it was supposed to! Anyway, can anyone recommend a gun which is cleaner and more effective, possibly cartidge type???? - oh, and cheap!

I bought a gun from Halfords a while back, and while I was squerting grease on the hub joints the nipple got stock in the gun head and broke. So I can tell you do not get one from Halfords.

Hi,
I can recommend one of these, small and comes with a handy flexible attachmet. But uses very small cartridges. I loose fill mine.

As for getting the gun stuck - have you adjusted the grip? :teehee:

On the grease fitting, you should be able to loosen the grip on the nipple by turning the knurled part of the fitting on the gun. You may have to use pliers the first time as it is tight from the factory. This will loosen the jaws grip on the grease nipples.

Grease nipples do have problems, sometimes they wont take grease, often you have to poke the middle ball bearing of the grease nipple to unsieze it with a pin, and if that does not work boil the nipple, that helps it clean the system out, if it still doesn't work a new nipple may be needed!

Thanks for the advice, I figured that out but needed alot more grip and power than just pliers, I ended up putting the head in vice and opening it with a pair of grips.

No bother - what ingenious people us mini owners are :)

mine is similar to this, however mine has a flexi pipe rather than solid, which makes it easier to get onto the nipples...he he he...nipples....
