Hi
Is there a easy way to get to the nut holding the bump stop on my 1990 Cooper? It is only a silly little nut but I cannot get a spanner on it as the access is so awkward! As mine has just fallen off I am going to have to do it fairly late one night after work and just wondered if there was a easy way of getting to the horrible little nut that I guess is going to be rusted solid!!

There is no easy way, sorry. But if you are going to be replaceing the bump stops anyway why not cut the old one away with a hacksaw blade then drill through the middle of the metal plate which is behind the rubber. the plate will fall away allowing the nut on the back to be removed easily. its not a captive nut so will just come straight off. then you can fit the nice new poly bump stop. If you use a spring washer and ordinary nut instead of a nylock you will find it will much easier to tighten up. your fingers can fit in behind to hold it in place untill the spring washer takes up the tension.

thanks - I might as well try and drill it off but it looks like I will have to leave it to the weekend then!
