well ive decided to try and build a high detail and accurate (were possible) 3d cad model of my engine bay.
Ive just finished uni and need to keep my CAD skills sharp and improve my portfolio.
So if anyone has some blueprints or rough models as a guide i would be highly appreciative and willing to share the finished model.

Holy thread resurrection batman!!
Forgot i started this all that time ago.
Anyway i am off work now for a few weeks to have an operation and because i am self employed i have my own cad license and some free time.
started off with modelling a potential dump valve today for my turbo plans.

That looks amazing.
thanks, years of practice it has taken me though.
As promised one clutch master cylinder.

Going to tackle the brise starter motor tomorrow.
Thankfully all these bits are in the house awaiting fitment so no stripping the mini yet.

That's a real undertaking. I'm really interested in how this turns out. How detalled are you going to go? And what CAD program are you using?
In terms of detail it'll be as acurate as i can make it with a tape measure and a pair of vernier callipers.
I think for now i will leave the internal detail till a later date.
For now im using rhino as the license is nice and cheap.

At college we use solidworks are I'm just learning to use it, will take me a while to get that good though!

Is it just aesthetics you are doing, or is it internals accurate to size also?
PM me, I have some info for you OP

At the moment it is accurate aesthetics to help me plan my engine bay configuration.
But i would like to eventually do internal detailing and create some animated exploded drawings and such like.
When i model the head, block and gearbox i will do the internal detail but i dont feel like ripping apart bits quite yet.
Long term plan if i remain dedicated would be to possibly create an online interactive toy like the exterior mini creator so you could mess around with
paint schemes and possibly parts and what not but this is more of a pipe dream at this point in time.
On the plus side if i can model everything accurately enough i should be able to create and then have machined my own custom parts. ooohhh shiny!!

did you get the engine bay done in the end? I want to make bespoke inlet and exhaust manifolds for my turbo so am looking to get some cad around the head back of block and bulkhead.
