Started fitting my new engine today and came across a few problems firstly on my origanal cooper engine the oil cooler pipes came from external oil cooler connected by a hose and the new engine has a solid pipe from filter to block i thought i could switch them but there different size.Does the new engine have a internal cooler and if so will i need the external?
Also the heater is a problem the new one is different the contol is on the head and my thermostat housing is different the origanal had a hose entering at rear and top rad hose at front new one only has rad hose ive cracked the origanal so was wondering how to plum the housing to accomadate the parts on the new engine. Not sure if im making much sense if it aint in the haynes i aint got a clue lol any help would be great thanks.

I believe for some mad reason they changed the block thread for the oil pipe - where the cooler pipe is on the block. Are you sure the adapter from the old engine won't fit the new ? It certainly doesn't have an 'internal' oil cooler! best to use the old engine heater arrangement - the hole in the head just needs drilling though - the little holes either side will already be tapped 1/4" UNF.

the old bolt defo dont fit filter arangment does and the fixed pipe on the new engine confuses me haw it feeds the oil cooler as my old one went from filter to cooler cooler to block. Can i get ones with the thread and size i require.

just my 2 pence but i'd replace the oil cooler with a new one,
when ever i've done an oil change the 2 new things on top of the list is filter and cooler

And throw away the fixed pipe - your cooler replaces that. Any industrial hose place will do you the fitting - just take along the hollow bolt you remove from the block when you remove the fixed pipe - and ask them for an adapter with that thread - and connecting to your flexible hose.

is it the stupid fixed oil transfer pipe thats held in the block by rubber olives? the one that popped out while i was going along the a20, and got me a big clean up bill
