Just wondering if, while we are unable to edit, mark as sold or renew our ads by clicking on the links in the renewal notices these could either be suspended or made optional - I have a 7-day wanted ad on there and have had a renewal notice EVERY day that the ad has been active!

Cheers,

JR

Well you only have to look at the listings at the moment....it's only a handful of what used to be on there.... It was easier to find a thread about a particular item and it made managing offers and bartering much easier!

Why was it taken out? There was a reason but i can't remember why.

IIRC the old system was being abused (which is also why we now can't edit/mark as sold/renew ads in the current system!!!) and took up too much of the mods time. to be honest as quite a few others have said, the current amount of ads is pitiful compared to how it used to be.

How could it be abused? You are either a trader or not... Lol

I'm sure there would be plenty of volunteers who would be willing to do a couple of hours a night in Favour of the old system coming back. I'd volunteer without a doubt!

Jonesy.. did some reading up.. you use whats called Photopost Classifieds..

http://www.photopost...lassifieds.html

Anyway if you want to uninstall classifieds you simply delete your classifieds directory on the server and to remove the tables just delete your classifieds tables from your database. they are usually prefixed by cp_ in a normal install

Simples!!

You behave yourself Matt! Trying to get him to dump the classifieds system, that's my job!

Unfortunatly, there is no way to turn off the renewal reminders, if there is it's hidden away in the quite frankly hideous control panel.

There will be improvements! Bare with us.

:)

haha try harder then!!
cant see why it cant be a normal post system like we have now..
made up of the same sections?
You only need to look at statistics... you had more posts and more traffic through the for sale forums... than you ever have done through the new system ;D simples!

Its because people liked the old system.. a new system was a nice breath of fresh air... until anyone actually came to using it.
Being a totally different system to the forums entirely some users wont want to venture into new ground. Our users who arnt quite upto speed with computers might have struggled.. and for those of us who tend to buy and sell alot.. its become a pain in the bum.

Even down to notifications.. it tells you a reply is on there.. but for the likes of blackberry users.. we dont know whats said without going to a computer... how useful!
