The phrase "you get what you pay for" springs to mind. What's more, unless your car is completely standard I wouldn't go anywhere near cheap non specialist insurance with a mini. Most of them decline insurance if you declare modifications over and above things like alloys and the stereo, if you fail to declare anything they will only refuse to pay out on a claim (probably when they discover that you have something petty like undisclosed aftermarket chrome window washer jets!!) I would also ensure that you get a specialist agreed valuation policy, otherwise you will only get so called "market value" in the event of a claim for your 23 year old pride and joy that you have poured thousands into!! (and if you have ever had a total loss claim, you will know that the insurance industries idea of "market value" is nothing like the true cost, more like poor condition trade in value!!) i.e. a couple of hundred quid if your lucky!!

Meh, to some degree I agree with that but I personally think all insurance companies are a bunch of theiving tools.
Just because insurance is compulsary, they seem to conveniently forget that you are actually paying for a service. They think they can just take your money and give you nothing in return.

Watchdog should do a whole season dedicated to shoddy insurance companies and shake the industry up. Its high time the theiving arses got whats coming to them. The sort of general service offered is shocking and simply wouldnt be allowed in any other industy, so why the feck do we allow it from them?!

Rant over! ...........................For now!

Sureterm Direct is the company, its funny because the cheapest i got 1st was around the £150 mark but that was with £500 voluntary excess, then i wondered, "wonder what the difference is if i dont want to pay any excess" and low and behold that popped up, the value i gave was true, doing about 3000 miles per year, its garaged, ok postcode and thats about it really, i did it on go compare (sorry) and the next ones along were about £100.

I'm getting it until i can afford to declare all the mods (there is a few :- ) then i'll go for quality over price.

Peter James Insurance is a Classic and Vintage specialist for both cars and bikes. They will also insure your other more modern cars if you ask.
