I'v got a K&N coming in the post for my 1275 91 cooper and i understand that it changes the air/fuel ratio - which is why its going to be rolling roaded, but other than that and the sound, what differences do they make??

Performance?
Fuel Efficiency?
Anything Else??

Cheers

Performance - Not much maybe 1 hp and maybe some torque.

Fuel Effeciency - Really depends how its setup on the rollers, let them know how you drive it and they can set the mixture according.

The noise does increase considerably.

This should really be installed with an exhaust system and inlet manifold upgrade to see any noticeable results. Otherwise you wont really benefit.

basically a better filter equals more air is able to get to the engine, and therefore more fuel is able to be burnt

SO...... they're pointless because they use up petrol more quickly than the standard filters???
