I'm looking for a black colour that has a very subtle blue reflection ONLY when it catches the light at the right angle, like the Alfa Romeo 156 colours. I've seen some pearls but they always look blue instead of black, and I've seen some speckles but that just looks naff.
does anyone know of a paint like the one I've described and where I could get it?

Thanks for the help.

Usually the ones which show a different colour when the light catches them at an agle do have fleck in them..

But had you thought of going to a Automotive paint supplier and asking them... they will have what are called paint chips which show pretty much all the paints available

I'm having some trouble finding one on my local area. The only one any where near here keeps selling their chips before I can see them :/

I have nothing against flecks per se, but some of the ones I have seen have flecks the size of pennies in them.

Try Honda night hawk black, Rover midnight blue or Rover night shade.

Thanks for the suggestions. You wouldn't have any sample photographs would you?

I don't think this will help much as it doesn't sound like a mini colour but have a butchers on www.mini-colours.co.uk.

hi there PEOPLE
STANDOX do a pukka range of these very subtle flip colours.

or this can be created by basing the car in black
hitting it with 2 light coats of clear laquer and mixing a small amount of light blue pearl in the 3rd coat of clear ,with another clear coat to be added .
only do this if you know what you are doing otherwise you will find yourself rubbing the whole car down again cause it looks chad.
do a test first so you can get you desired affect right , and note how you done it
and go from there.

Problem is : you cant see pearl on a screen !
You cant see metalics on your screen !
and even if you could the colours would change depending on the settings of your screen and even on what type screen you have (flat panel ,LCD etc)
and downloading colour chips wouldent work as it would depend on your printer settings and even what type of paper used .
you need to go to your local motor factors (round here we have Brown bros or partco or Gwynedd auto paint) they will have colour chips (you cant take them away)
usualy only the "custom" paint manufactures like rage try to sell colour chips
