Please give your topic a title that quickly describes your problem. Just putting 'Help my Mini doesn't work' is useless to anyone trying to help.

Tried to order a braided oil pressure hose, to fit an oil pressure gauge to my dash and have been confronted with the question of "how long do you want it?". I want it to reach the centre gauge of the three standard gauge holes on a standard aftermarket mini dash. Any Ideas how long it will need to be? Also what would be a better oil pressure switch to upgrade to whilst I'm at it?

I use the 4ft C-AHT9 from MiniSpares and it is plenty long enough. Min goes from the block to the slam panel, across to the wing and then up the wing into the car to a gauge that is just to the right of where the 3 clocks would be. Not going to the slam panel first then would give more than enough length to go a bit further across the dash.

If you wanted a more direct route then trace it out with a length of wire or string and measure that.

I use the HPS1 oil pressure switch so the light comes on earlier.

A cable outer / net curtain wire would bend similarly to get your measurements.

have been confronted with the question of "how long do you want it?".

The "cheeky" answer would be "I want to keep it. I plan on owning the car for a long time".

On a more serious note, I've done exactly what Graeme and Ethel have suggested using electrical wire to map out the route and then measure the length of the wire.
