my xbox died yesterday, and i have two options

as it has died twice before and i managed to swindle 2 free repairs :ermm: they are now offering me a lifetime warranty on it if i pay for the repair, due to being a 'commited customer'

and on the other hand, the new xbox has just been released, which is very snazzy and has the HD output i really really want! plus its got loads of extra gubbins on it.

do i pay £100 to get my old xbox repaired and in the process receive a lifetime warranty on it?

or do i pay £200 for the new Xbox 360 S with 250GB HDD and HD output??

link to new one!

i dont know what to do???

what do you think?

bearing in mind, that my current xbox is one of the first, bought when the xbox 360 was released.........

cheers

adam

Is the lifetime warranty somehow transferable (With the Xbox) because i'm thinking the xbox would be worth at least something if the new owner could get it fixed how ever much it broke! Then you could buy the nice new one :ermm:

It's worth buying the new one. The warrantly will cover you for a long enough amount of time on the new console that if it does break you can still get it fixed for free. Whereas if you get the lifetime warranty, it may break in 2 years time, by then you will be able to pick up 2nd gen 360's for £30, the newer consoles will still be £120. :ermm:

:w00t:  I got confused writing it.

Im trying to say that by the time your old xbox will have broken again (It will! its an Xbox) You will be able to buy the same console on Ebay for £30 on its own with no leads etcf, but you'l already have those.

So is it really worth it? You can get the brand new xbox console with a 3 year warranty which out-weighs the price of what you will be getting if you choose the above option :)

Did that clear stuff up?

And Nope, i won't be buying the new Xbox console. That new Wii styled stuff all looks pretty cool, but i just got a free 120Gb HDD to replace my 20 (Which is now up for grabs in freebies) because he'd upgraded, and after having this particular one 3 years i dont feel i need to upgrade :) For nostalgia reasons more than anything, i love this console, im attatched to it. It's the only one thats lasted  I might treat it to one of those new cases with the side window and some cool LEDs soon anyway. :)

erm i think i am being stupid lol

if i get it fixed, i will then have free repairs for life whenever it breaks.

if you were in my position would you buy the new one, or fix the old one?

does your xbox have a HDMI output? i played on my friends xbox with HDMI and HDTV and it was amazing! one of the reason i want to upgrade.

Or you could try what you can do with phones

If a phone fails more than 3 times you are allowed to swap your phone for a different phone as in phone brand

you could push it for them to provide you with a new xbox but that might just be as bad with faults?

Have you had it for 3 years
If not , your warranty has been automatically upgraded to 3 years for RROD
If your warranty has expired , bad luck , but get a newer one then

its prob 4-5 years old now, so even the extended warranty has expired.

i am tempted to just get it repaired and get the warranty

but i really want the new one, just to have it as it aswell as for the HD as COD and every other game is amazing in HD! is a conventient time for it to break lol.

i was all set to buy the new one, when they offered me a bloomin' lifetime warranty!!! :w00t:

I agree. Ps3 is way better. I've had both and will never go back to an xbox 360.

You're allowed your opinion, but as he said before this is his thread and it isn't ANYTHING to do with the PS3.

To be honest man what i'd do is ebay it broken, you'll probably get about £60 - 90? And that'll offset some of the price of the new slimline 360 :w00t: ... That is if you've got the spare cash.
