I will soon be looking to purchase a set of shocks. I have the ride height adjusters already.

I like the look of the Gaz ones and I have heard they are quite good for the money they are. I also am very tempted by the Protech version, they are slightly more expensive but they look a much better shocker.

I do not want Spax shocks as I know they recently went bust and now the quality of their products has some want plumbeted since.

Has anyone used the protech shocks? Do they corrode as its bare aluminium or is it laquered to prevent this?

Comments welcome :)

All depends on what you use the car for, not a lot of point of having adjustable shocks if it's just a road car...

Why? I have a set of multi point adjustable coil overs on my honda civic, thats my road car that I do 350 miles a week in. I dont see why I can't use adjustable shocks on a raod car?

i think hes saying that you can use them. but you dont need to. as its a road car adjustable will be overkill.
if you got the other adjusters then you can set your height already. so you dont need to set the height on both of them.
i think thats what he means.

(just like putting a spoiler on a nissan micra - whats the point)

Well I see your points but the car i'm building is going to be fast road with the occasional hill climb and track day, so I will need something abit more than standard.

As for the Protech shocks thanks for the info on the weird colour they went. I thought they may do that.

I have the protech shocks on the scamp and they are th best shocks i've ever used on a mini. :P

They are filled with race spec oil and you can tell the difference. The scamps a toy so it gets hammered whenever its out, and the spax just didnt give the responsive ride i was after. :P

The main point that made me go for the protech ones though, was the fact they are cnc machined so virtually un-snappable. I have had a welded top mount hole snap off on me during a race, it really isnt a nice feeling and i really wouldnt want it to happen on a british back road or on a motorway :)

I can confirm the protech ones get a powdery coating when attacked by the winter salt but on mine it just brushes of with a bit of water.

Highly Recommended Shocks
