Track Rod End Removal

Hi
I need to change my track rod ends ,is it a ball joint splitter i need to get the end out ? I have slackened the nut of the steering rack and taken the top nut off the end just need to know how i get it out so i can turn it,Thanks

Where the bolt comes throu the streeing arm on the wheel hub, screw the nut back on until the nut is just proud of the bolt by about 3mm then hit nut with hammer that stop the thread getting knackerd , if your replacing them as said hit siad bolt bit with big hammer .

You don't need any sophisticated equipment. Just a good hammer. Leave the top nut on the track rod end, but loosened. You're going to need to bash the steering arm until the shock frees up and separates the ball joint taper. As you're replacing the current ends, you can also hit the nut, if necessary. Although this sounds quite brutal, it's an accepted method used by mechanics.

Make sure you count the number of turns when unscrewing the track rod end and screw the new ones on the same amount otherwise you will throw out the wheel alignment.
