Hey guys,

Just got an email telling me Ford are opening up their engineering apprenticeships scheme for applications, below I've included all the standard gumph.

If anyone's interested, drop into the Ford careers website here and have a read and a look for job Ref. 71

I know some people won't be interested, or may make silly comments, please don't bother. I've stuck this in here as I know a lot of our younger members are technically capable, and would see this as a really good opportunity to get hands on experience, and some good qualifications without the debt that comes from years at university.

Any questions, send me a PM, otherwise good luck.

Dave

Blimey! :D An apprenticeship? :P Didn't think car companies did them anymore!

If you are interested in a career in cars, then my advice is go for it!

The amount of times i've been sat in meetings with people with degrees and doctorates and couldn't tell their a*** from their elbow is absolutely incredible. To get hands on REAL WORLD experience and the qualifications to boot will stand you in extremely good stead for the future. Go for it I say! (even if it is with Ford... sorry, pet hate getting in there!)

good on ya Dave for posting the link :D

Yes we do still do apprenticeships, and most of the guys and girls who go on them filter nicely into the company, working in Dunton, Dagenham, Bridgend or elsewhere, it's a good start for anyone wanting to get into engineering, and some hands on work.

I won't take the arse and elbow comment or your dislike of Ford personally, after all we've still got a massive presence in the UK, and I know what the different bits of my body are for, regardless of my multiple degrees and other academic qualifications...

I remembered several people on here asking about apprenticeships over the years so thought I'd best post this up, don't bookmark it, get your application in, these positions are hard fought for and popular as it's an earn as you learn apprenticeship, and a really good one!
