hi i have just got my sisters min back from the mot centre and it has failed because it does not have side repeaters.
it is an 86 saloon and as far as i no has never had any.
we bought the car last year with 12 months ticket and looking at the wings i would say thay have been on the car since new i.e need replacing.
i've looked for info on the net and it seems from april 1986 you should have them and the car was registered in october.
has anyone else had this problem or knows if the car has the wiring to add repeaters

Mines an 86 and has been through 2 MOT's without them. If they are needed I suppose it depends how picky the garage is.

looking at the state of the wings this one has been through many MOTs without them, got to change the wings over winter anyway so may just fudge some in there to get it through, anyone know if the wiring is likely to be there

ive seen later minis that have gone through them ebcause theyve not had the holes in the wings, but it does just depend on the inspector... what one inspector passes another fails

yeah i'm sure he was just looking for something to fail it on, apart from indicators just a small patch of welding on the floor, so overall i'm happy.

if testers dont notice it does not mean its legal, all you have to do if fudge some on the outside with a bit of duck tap for the mot as long as they dont move your ok

have 2 minis a 1989 and a 1992 both passed for many years without repeaters, suppose depends one examiner. As for fitting with duck tape ???!! they still need to flash to pass!! obviously someone has fitted early wings with no repeater holes in to get rid of one of the many mini rust areas. Same as me and many other people, just look around at the shows. Only way around is either cut the holes in the wings or try another MOT station

I think they can use their discretion if it is from the 1985-86 year. My old Picadilly was from 05/86 and my old vw caddy was from 03/86 and they both passed 20+ MOTs each! maybe you could just use some of the stick on jobs for the test?
