hi, am i right in beleiving that taking the seams of gives the mini a little extra top speed? also taking the roof gutter off does look bad but if your door and window seals arnt very good then your car will have an indoor swimming pool haha

just to say if you take the seems off and open the window in the rain due to smoking or the screens fogged prepare to get wet lol i have deseamed mine but the roof and one instance it put my fag out going round an island. deseam and debumper creates less drag. i have done both and think its looks the dangleys

what is the general concensus between mini owners about this kind of mod?

I like the look of the de-seem, not 100% on the bumper though.

At the end of the day, it's your mini. You should do whatever you want to it!

haha im the complete opposite i love the debumpered look but hate the deseamed look lol

From what I understand there needs to be a lot of re-inforcement internally if its done properly - Perhaps someone like shifty would be the best to comment on the procedure?

If done properly and fully seam welded, a deseamed mini will be a lot stronger than original. there should be no need for any reinforcement except at the A panel to wing joint to prevent any flexing. this is easily done with a tiny plate joining the arch lip at the bottom. Apart from that, the only issue you may see in the future, is replacement of the boot floor will mean completely undoing the rear bumper deseam to effect the repair properly.

EDIT. Just to add do NOT deseam the roof, as has already been said, water ingress will be the result, the only part of the roof that should be deseamed, is the rear, this will allow water to roll down the back and some people feel that the air will flow smoother off the car.
