I have a miniy city on which i have spent a clean fortune, new inner and outer sills, whole new front end, new floor pan including boot and also double skinned floors . I could go on lol. I now have the car at painters which is looking pretty costly too. The painter says he cannot gaurantee rust wont come through a year or two down the line. I am shocked as i thought it would take years and years before any sign of rust. I am planning on keeping the car hence the big spend on it with no corners cut. Anyone know whats the best way to stop rust? i considererd ecoationg but at a cost of 2000 i couldnt warrent it. There has to be some way other than ecoating to stop the dreaded rust completly?. any stories or experiancee greatly appreciated. thx in advance for any replys.

with most cars getting resprayed after treatment of rust, it can be likely that rust will reappear in a couple of years. at work weve done loads of mercs and bmw arches where they have been getting a bit bubbly and rusted, and you do tell everyone who comes asking for it to be reapired that the rust could come back in a year or two.
so to stop this, then id suggest using enough waxoyl and underseal to sink a battleship. invest in a compressor and a waxoyl cavity gun and keep on top of inspecions for any corrosion, especially under the wings and behind where the subframes mount, actually scratch that, just keep an eye on everywhere!

Not sure how you assembled your car but with my sons every panel i have welded on has been etch primed, primed and topcoated. Every seam which has been welded i have forced as much paint as possible into the welded areas and to top it off i will be sealing every flange, lip join etc.
I will then stonechip where possible (barring any reaction.) Without having a galvanised shell mini's will try to rust quicker than you can say boo to a goose.
As previously mentioned pump waxoyl in any cavity until it flows out, regularly check your car for any stone chip damage etc.

You shouldn't need to, if you feel the waxoyl is too thick then put the container in hot water, this should allow it to flow better.
