hi, i have searched but nothing has come up. do these superchips 'self map' or do you need to get them re-programmed?
i guess they are set up for a standard 1275 mpi mini.
my mpi is in about as far a state of tune as it can be with the standard ecu. i want to retain the standard ecu. if i use a one of these superchips is it a case of plug and play or do i have to get it remapped to suit my engine?
i may be able to get one at a reduced price and am considering it, pending the answers to my questions.
many thanks
dan

You need the software and cable to set it up for your car. In the UK there are authorized stations to do this. There used to be an Australian site that had a good write up about it and what it could. In interprets the signal from the ECU and adjusts it based on the programming, ignition only I believe.

Got one on my MPi which has also been fettled a bit and producing 80 bhp at wheels. Don't know a great deal about what it does as it was on when I got it but here are some words from the wise (Sprocket).............
The Superchips Icon will only alter the ignition advance. Im not sure if the newer versions are a mapable system where you can alter the advance at any load point to what ever is required, or whether they still work like the age old ones where they only alter the advance by a set amount somewhere between +5 or -5 degrees from the original advance figure, the change is the same value irrespective of the load point. They are said to return drivebility where the engine has been modified, namely increased compression ratio. On the MPI as to date are the only way of improving the situation on highly tuned engines. The SPi, for the price, you might as well buy a fully programable ECU!
Any Superchips dealer should be able to tune it to your engine if you have changed the secification in any way. Minisport being a Superchips dealer, and probibly one of the only places I would take it.

I did ring Graeme Goode Motors at Leicester who are my local agent and they wanted around £80 to plug it in to check it out and reset 9or whatever they do to it) - I thought a bit and decided not to bother

thanks for getting back.
i may send minisport a quick email to see how much they will want to set my mpi up with an adjustable fuel pressure reg. and an icon superchip.
i can get one for about a hundred quid. i have gone about as far as i can with the current spec, so worth looking into.
thanks
