A Mini-friendly mechanic should be able to do the job in an hour. You certainly shouldn't be charged for more than two hours. The mounts themselves can be got for around four pounds each.

Also, check that your front exhaust mount is not broken or loose as this can allow more than the usual amount of movement, too.

There is a bottom engine steady as well, if you stand in front of the car, its on the left at the front of the bottom of the engine, and attach's to the front of the subframe

Open bonnet, start car, rev.

Check what moves, no point piddling about changing mounts if its just a feel issue.

put a jack and a piece of wood under the engine and lift it up a bit, if the engine moves and the subframe doesnt then u need to sort the mounts out. dont lift too much as it will destroy the mounts
