Hi, does any one know if the leyland mini steering column spline is the same as the austin one?

Only asking because i have just bought a mini steering wheel off ebay which stated it would fit a mini but when i tried it the centre hole is too small. I then messaged the seller and they said it would fit layland mini's but not austin ones????

Personaly i think they're triying it on lol.

They are talking Sh!te.

All mini column splines are identical. so much so that it's the same spline on all BL cars from minis to montegos. They only changed it when there was a tie-in with Honda.

Best thing to do is say you tried it on your mates Leyland mini and it didn't fit that either.

You could, if you wanted to take the pss also mention you tried it on a Morris mini, an Austin 7, a Rover Mini, a Mini Moke, a riley elf, a wolsley hornet etc etc........... it won't fit any if it won't fit one.

Also, what age is your mini, it could well be a layland.

Haha ok thought as much. my car is a mini city on a 89 plate (f reg). just wanted to be sure before i give them some stick for selling an item miss described..

The spline size did change when the Mini went to MPi in late '97 but by that time they were well and truly Rover not Austin, Leyland or anything else!
