Hey all, am pretty sure it /should/ work but figured I will find out that it is a wise thing to do.

I live in the pacific north west in the U.S. so actual engines are somewhat few and far between, and the cast iron block is somewhat heavy to ship. I am wondering (pretty sure it is possible, just verifying before I order stuff) if the internals from a 998 or 1098 would be able to be retrofitted into a 850 a series block. I know it would need to be bored to appropriate size for the pistons, and it would be an intellegent idea to have the block modded for all 3 cam bearings.. I do have a nice 12g295 head in decent shape I would be putting on it.

By the way the engine number for the 850 is 8AM U H790101 and is currently installed in my ratty old mini, I bet it would run with a bit of tinkering.

Chris
