
Tuning 998 On A Tight Budget

Thats a question i cant answer as mines a project and im still doing the bodywork before i start on the engine. Ive just been collecting bits as and when i find them!Thanks for the reply, did the 12G295 head make a noticeable difference? Also, did it need reconditioning, as that is what seems to cost the money? I have heard a lot of people recommend a new cam, but am not keen on taking the engine out as I need the car as my daily drive!
The head i got just needs skimming and maybe new seats to run on unleaded. I think it can be quite expensive to get done but i bet its not as much as a new head, and from what i researched this was the sought after head for the 998.

You will need new cam followers if fittting a cam, but they are cheap.

Keep in mind a 12g295 Cooper head would need to be milled/shaved to reach the proper chamber capacity. You can't just take a 295 and plonk it on...well you could, but I imagine your compression would be like 7.1 or so

Port & Polish
Cam But not sure what yet
12g940 head
Rebuilt carb (already) but with a Sock filter & Trumpet
3 - 2 - 1 Mani Flow down pipe with middle box and RC40 center exit
Inlet manifold
haha there's more but im undesided on what else
im debating with myself on a Turbo atm!
