Sometimes when driving the mini is fine, but others when i press the brake peddle the car shakes and it feels as if im going over cats eyes, or them cattle griddles.
Yesterday i put a new Wheel Baring on as someone suggested it but the problem is still there, and only under braking, if i roll to a stop its fine.

I have Standard Discs up front. with 12"

Any Ideas

Thanks

Put a dial gauge on them to check for run-out. Could just be worn bushes in the suspension - especially the tie bar rubbers! Or broken subby mounts - if you have the daft rubber mount subby ?

Yes you can, I had to about 3 months ago.

The rear front-subframe mounts are bolted on to a plate that pushed through from the footwells, so you need to take your carpet up.

Another thing it could be is if the brake pads are loose in the caliper. If one of the supporting clips was not fastened properly or has since popped loose the pad could be moving 'freely' when you brake.

Just a update to anyone who might need this in the future. the problem was infact that the four bolts that hold the flange to the disc, three of them were sheared and the other was just about to, causing the disc to wobble under braking.

I have also replaced the brake discs, pads and sub frame mounts to be on the safe side
