heya ive stripped my mini down but found a few mm thick layer what looks like tar covering the floor, is this the minis original sound deadining? and is there any replacment product? thanks

let me guess its the hardess stuff to get off and im going to use up all of my time trying to remove it all? sound about right?!!!!

not to bad, u can heat it up but i found it easy enough to get a chisel or scre driver and tap it with a hammer and then if ur painting the floor just get a wire brush drill attachment

Dont know why everyone moans about the sound deadening.
A wall paper scraper (1-2 inch wide) and a hammer/mallet.
Comes off in massive bits, took me about an hour to do the whole floor and bench seat.

why do people remove this the stuff in my shell is mint the only bit that has cracked away i little is in the drivers footwell

To do repairs.
Try welding near it or under/over it. You'll soon see why..... (Tar and heat= sticky,smelly, toxic C**p)

fortunatly the shell floor has never or doesnt need repairing at the min. like all minis i think ar some point i will have to remover it!!!
