Me and my dad are restoring an Australian 1966 Morris Mini Cooper 'S'. However dad can not make up his mind on design wise what paint scheme he wants to go with. We want to make it original but sporty, so sporty mods that can always be reversed eg larger sporty wheels, large chrome (aston syle?) petrol caps, sportier interior, tinted windows, exhuast etc
Ideas that have come to mind are
1)The classic red with white roof and white bonnet stripes
2) Classic cooper 's' race/rally paint job
3)black and white combo's eg white with black roof and black flares etc
4) Back to the original all white toga white stock paint (boring but maybe more collectable?)
Anyway i was wondering if people could post images of Cooper 'S''s arcording to the above ideas or any sporty looking restorations.
cheers guys

Wow, are you sure it a genuine Cooper 'S' ? They are worth a packet in Australia. Leave it bog stock std. If you mod it in any way the value will drop quite quickly. Ridgy didge, matching numbers verified actual Cooper 'S' are worth around $30 000, with a replacement engine instead of the original around $15000 and bast**dised ones around $7-10 000. It is really funny when random people find out that I have a mini, they invariably say "my..... (insert relative here) had a Cooper S". Shame they only made around 7500 genuine Cooper S's, as about 25000 people think they used to own one

yep its is a authentic Mk1 cooper S, it has matching numbers and has been looked over by a mini expert who confirmed it was a cooper s before we bought it. As for the 30 000 yea they can be valued at that but atm arn't really selling for that much often, but soon will. This is the reason we want to restore it to be sporty but also every mods we do will be easily reversible. Dad has bought it as an investiment but also wants to restore it to a point that he will enjoy it for weekend drives and club events etc

Do whatever you want, but personally Id stick with 10" wheels, tuned engine and a pastel/original colour scheme.
