I fill my tank with about 20litres (guess) ,,
1 litre = 0.22 gallons ,
0.22*20 = 4.4gallons in the tank.
So if 43mpg is correct then 43*4.4= 189.2 miles for a tank.
I think that is right, if im wrong someone feel free to point it out

Work on 38 mpg with a 15% reserve and that gives a maximum safe range of 240 miles. Make that a bit less if driving really hard or in hilly country with lots of low gear and heavy throttle use.

I have the same problem at the mo on my 1981 1000 HL
My fuel gauge stops working form half way
I started to write down the milage when i fill up and the amount of litres i put in.
I haven't been brave enough to go past 195miles yet
Thats only 23 litres when you fill it up again.
Its hard to think theres another 12 litres somewhere lol

If you give that ago you can easily work at your Miles Per Gallon too

Get a Jerry can and put a fivers worth of fuel in it. Then brim your tank and note down the mileage. Drive until you run out of fuel and see how many miles you have done.
And I get 80 miles to £15 in mine for reference
Is it not easier just to use some simple math?
as someone pointed out - fill the tank to the first click, take a note of your mileage.
Fill up when necessary, note the litres until first click. and do the math,
If you do this a couple of times you will get a more accurate average, (perhaps the first time its only town or motorway driving), just keep a not of the original mileage and the totaling litres.
