Hey, i was wondering if anyone could share their experience, thoughts or photos of these seats. I am looking at buying them as
1) style
2) safety
3) comfort

Cobra Seats

Also if i installed 2 of these would i be able to have passengers in the back? and where do the harnesses bolt to in the back?

Cheers

i have them in my car at the moment, however they are the only seats i have owned(other than standard). So i cant comment in comparison to other seats.

I find the seats very comfy, and i find most people who get in my car do aswell. i've done 5 hour drives to Newquay with no problems.

If you get tilting subframes like i have they do, obviously tilt forward. However due to the height they hit the roof when tilted forward. But if you slide them all the way forward and then tilt you can squeeze in the back. It is a squeeze mind.

Harness wise your not really going to be able to have rear passengers and harnesses safely. Usually they mount to the rear seatbelt mountings. So if you use eye bolts and harnesses with hooks you could use harness when there are no passengers and then unhook and use normal seat belts when you have passengers.

jacko616 do you just use normal seat belts with your cobra's? Also do you ever change to harnesses at all? Also i have a 1970 morris mini k that doesn't have seat belts in the back for harness mounting?

I use to have these seats in a previous mini, personally i love them.
Get them with a lockable subframe and you cant go wrong, it did help though that i used to live about 2 miles from the factory and they had a yearly end of line stock around November time

I have these seats for my clubby estate, They look great, seem quite solid and are comfortable enough, but comfort in a bucket seat often depends on the size of your arse...
The OEM Recaros in my teg are much more hugging and supportive, but far too expensive for me to put in the mini.

If you're going to fit harnesses you're going to have to fit a roll cage. Unless you're planning on fitting expensive inertia locking harnesses.
The harness will effectively lock you into place, meaning if something were to happen, eg. You go into the back of a lorry, you would be physically unable to move out of the way of incoming objects through the windscreen or if you rolled the car, you would not be able to duck in the seat to avoid the roof collapsing in on you.

Obviously there's no physical reason as to why you can't fit harnesses without a roll cage but I wouldn't advise it.

Oh yeah and you can't lean forward to see out of junctions either so bare that in mind :D

My car is my daily drive so i use normal seat belts for ease of use.I dont have any harnesses at the mo but im hoping to get some soon.i dont have rear seat belts as my mini is an 86 but the mountings are still there in mine. You could use these.

is there a technique to getting people in the back because i cant get people in the back the seats wont tilt up very far because of the roof and they dont slide forward far enough to get peoplein that way ?
