I have 2 minis both with rear window demisters that don't work but everything else does so its not likely to be a fuse.

Any suggestions

I think the connections at the side of the rear windscreen usually get disconnected.

Must admit, haven't checked voltage yet, just though someone may have had same prob and a quick fix.

Sounds like I am not the only one though

if you have power at the screen try cleaning the screen with white spirit, wipe it over then leave it to dry, ive done this before and worked fine after, just a thought

You really got to put a volt meter on it, or a bulb connected to the connections..
switch on, if it does not light (check the bulb on the battery) then you got no power coming in..

meter is about 4 quid for a digital one from maplins..

A must for a mini owner.

If it is not that i.e. you have voltage....
then the element could have a break in it..
again a volt meter on continuity on the terminals should give you a reading (less than 1)..
no reading and you have a break in the connection somewhere..

you can push the meter lead pin into the element (thick part) and track down the break..

once you find it you can get a heater element repair solition from Maplin (about 5 quid) you just paint this stuff over the break ..

sounds long winded but it is actually pretty simple..

hope this helps..

Right, have power at screen

Have a good earth

Have continuity (less than 1) from side to side

Still not working.

Will get soeme repair liquid and paint it on next but so far no indication as to why not working.
