Im nearly ready to strip the paint off back to bare metal.

From what I have read, I will need an etch primer, I can get 1k etch manufactured by HMG.

The problem is i have is finding somewhere that supplies 1k primer filler, everywhere i look seems to bring up 2k paints.

HMG do a standard celly primer but only has a 0.02mm dry film thickness. A friend of mine used a 2k primer filler, it went on nice and was really thick on, allowing plently or sanding back.

I have never sprayed before so im after some pointers regading the different 1k products.

on a shell i would use a 2 part acid ecth like the one by max mayer, as the 1k etch from people like hb is unstable when primer is applied, also 2k primer is more stable and solid than 1k/celly primer

Ill have to see if my mate will lend me his air fed mask so i can have a go with 2k.

You dont happen to know roughly how many litres of 2k etch and 2k primer filler is required for the shell do you? The two products im loking at are these:

great people to deal with and they have pretty much anything u could need at fairly good prices(well compared to here in ireland anyway!)
and u can get disposable masks for using 2k paints for about 20 quid, better than using up air that u could use for the spray gun!

thats got the 1k celly primer filler sorted.

I recon i could get away with popping a couple of 2k etch primers on with a charcoal filter mask

2k is quite unhealthy stuff so be carefull. if u have any trouble with what primers, paint, hardner's ect u need just sent autopaintsbrighton an email or give em a call, they're great folk to work with
