Most people say Red Oxide is the best for undercoating after welding etc but which is the best brand?
I have searched and come up with a few I would like opinions on:
Screwfix - No Nonsense Oxide Primer 1ltr Red £5
Halfords - Hammerite Red Oxide Primer 250ml £4.99
Halfords - Halfords Red Oxide Primer 250ml £4.99
Wickes - Red Oxide Metal Primer 750ml £9.99
Frost - POR15 Black Rust Prevention Paint 473ml(US pint) £19.50
Cheers

Not sure which is the best mate.
Though someone told me that red oxide is not the same stuff as it used to be, a certain chemical in it got banned (maybe lead?), but im sure the manufacturers will have mixed another type of anitcorrosion addative to the paint.
For my underside areas i have used bilt hamber electrox, then HMG primer then topoat.
I plan to put some stone chip on tomorrow then topcoat again.
For the upper sides i plan to etch prime, filler prime, and topcoat.

That stuff sounds really good but at £23 per litre it could be expensive. How many litres would you need to do the whole bottom of the mini?

Dont bother with oxide primer, although Im sure its good for boats, railings, iron gates etc etc its will cause huge reaction issues with most modern car paints and products.
Bare metal, weld, lead, filler, etch primer, surface primer, top coat is all that should be on your car in my opinion.
