I believe it would get an age related plate rather than a new one nowadays.... mainly as it does not have the information required to determine it's tax band, and it's not a new build requiring an SVA

it will get a plate made up to the Day/Month/Year Of The car

Say 12 june 1996 it will get a P Reg Plate But if its 12 October 1996 it get R Reg Plate :]

DVLA can't give it a AA 60 AAA plate due to the engine and its tax class & its safety Since it dosen't meet EU standereds for modern cars

Kit Cars Are a grey area at the moment though.

if you brought a Moke Kit Car it will have to go for a SVA and then the person who's SVA ing the car shall choose for it to have a Old Plate Or New One.

just out of interest, how does a car become unregistered?
does it leave the production line when they went out of business and never got registered or something like that?

A car is registered at the dealership it goes to, so if it is sold before registation has been completed at that dealership, then the car can become un-registered, and parked up in a garage, never to turn a wheel on public roads

as a general question, if a mini was around today what tax band/price would it be? Just 'normal' minis not z cars/vtech etc

According to Parkers website here the MPi was 164g/km which puts it in band G currently at £155/yr

I think the tax band on a newly built car which is put through IVA is different though - you couldn't put every IVA'd car through the European emissions cycle to find out.

12 grand??? As soon as it has any number plate and is driven, it will drop in value faster than an express lift.

Bored collectors I think! They're hardly the new cars people claim they are anyway. It's a 20 year old car whether it's been driven or not. It would need a damn good check over before I'd want to drive it!

It looks to be to me which makes me ask, if they raffled it off, how come the British Mini Club have it in their possesion again?

I hope there is no foul play afoot! I bought a fivers worth of tickets to win that, haha.

Well whoever won it for the sake of say, 10 tickets, does nothing with it, leaves it unregistered and it sits there, BMC may have approached them with an offer of say 7k, youre not going to say no are you?
