Hi everyone.

T-Reg non-cooper mini, but with the 1.3 efi motor.

The one and only key that I have for it has the electronic immobiliser thingy, and inside are the 2 little nipples that activiate / deactivate the car. Unfortunately, the "activate one" is wearing right down such that I have to target my nail onto it through the rubber

Long and short is that I need a new one. (and keep this one as replacement)

Does anyone know who can supply these? (South London)

I ws suggested "Terry's All Locks" of Brockley by the excellent Dave of Double Dees (New Cross)... but when I called they simply said "we need to see it first".... brockley is a royal stomp for me just for someone to have a look

Does anyone know of anyplace in London (near SW12!) that does these for sure?

Cheers, Matt

Try your local landrover dealer as the mk1 freelander used the same alarm system so they should be able to supply a fob and program it, I should imagine that this could work out expensive but go get it priced up.

sir bennett of gordon that was a quick response. The plot thickens

will get quotes from terrys and local LR dealer, and report back.

... TERRYs they now tell me that if its an "integrated" one they cannot do it... are Mini ones "integrated"?

... LR not sure, they need to see it

I know they are ££ but I know I need one!

Once you've got your new one, pop onto eBay and get a refurb kit for your existing one. They're about £15, and consist of a new casing which you can just pop the inside of yours into.

When I get round to it, I've got to do the same with mine.

And yes - they certainly look the same as the Freelander unit - both the "oldest" one and the TD4, but not the most recent one. My 52 plate freelander (long since sold - the boot just isn't big enough for a travel cot plus luggage!) had exactly the same fob design (and so I assume was the same unit).

Cheers

Ben

Not sure what they mean by "intergrated" but you need to have access to the alarm ecu (behind the dash) so you will most likely need to take the ecu out and take it allong to whoever is going to do it.

I had one of my fobs very successfully reconditioned by Remote Key Ltd (www.remotekey.co.uk/key-fob-reconditioning). It costs about £40 and they will put new buttons in. It takes a few days by post but you do not have to take your ECU out.
If you want new fobs you will have to send your ECU. New fobs cost about £75 including the return postage of your ECU.

Terrys coming in at 90.. probably have to go for it. but ol' pinhead here forgot to take the actual car, so will have to return

The recondition - fob link and DIY are top tips
