Looks interesting, wouldn't mind knowing how much it will be on sale for. Seems a good idea mounting into a mini subframe, easily reversable back to standard / a series.

thats what i was thinking and it cant be too expensive as its not like a whole new subframe. will have to wait until all testing is done they seem to know what they are doing as through out there website they have alot of racing parts and there own racing car so... looks quite interesting also it says they will be able to fit too its good for me as i only live 20 mins away from them so when im driving i will have to take a look down there.

Got some good news about the kit they said it will be under £3000 for the whole kit.

The kit will contain, Instructions on how to carry out the conversion,
Engine cradle, Purpose built exhaust manifold, Purpose built heavy duty
drive shafts, Cooling system pipe work (it utilises a mini radiator),
Radiator duct, Reverse gear, alloy differential, gear linkage.

Connected to the output from the R1 gearbox is an electric reverse gear. The
Output of the R1 gearbox chain drives a bespoke aluminium differential which
uses mini internals. The standard R1 engine depending on the year used puts
out approx. 150bhp, so compare the price and reliability of the R1
conversion to the price and reliability of building an A series with similar
power and it wins hands down. "quoted from email from them"

it really does sound good. and it can use the r1 engine from 1998 to 2006 which mean more power! as you can fit the later engines in. there is no body mods the radiator is in the same place also you can use the same subframe no need to take it out as the cradle fixs to the orginal mounts which this also means it can be easily changed back to an a series. it does you an elctric motor as a reverse but thats not too bad.

cheers

they do both. i have emailed them today and asked them how much for a drive in drive out conversion and they said it would be hard to say at the moment as the kit is not being produce etc etc and different specs. there car with the r1 engine in the 1st kit is in their workshop in wellingborough just going through tests etc. then he said he would let me know when the car is done and then i can go have a peek of their work on thr r1 conversion. they said the next stage is its going on their rollong road soon then a road test. to be honist i dont think it would cost too much i recon in between the £1000-£2000 mark no too sure though

cheers

That kit has been in development for at least 6 years or thereabouts that I know off. If they are actually working on it, it may not be much longer, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

I would also be surprised if it could take the later larger R1 04-06 as it's quite a bit deeper in the front to back dimension, so at the very least another cradle to suit would be needed

Cheers
David

they said there target price would be well under £3000 they cant say yet until the testing is done etc etc?

i dont know will just have to wait to see on there website when its actually for sale i like the kit because you can use any r1 engine form 1998 to 2006

makes finding an engine alot easier

A 'bespoke' diff that uses mini internals isn't exactly a good selling point! The diff is probably the weakest part of a mini gearbox,

Also promotives kit is £3400 and includes they're new reverse drive which runs off the R1 engine.
