ive just got hold of one of the old aerofans, the one that has a variable pitch dependant on speed. now the way ive mounted it is so that it pushes the air into the radiator, it looks to be right as the way the fan spins it has the rounded edge of the blades leading the way. is this right?

the dowty aerofan should have a sticker on one of the fan blades with 'THIS SIDE TO ENGINE' on it , if the sticker is missing can you see where it was ????? the one i have that is unused/boxed and with sticker looks like the long straight edge is the leading edge - the forward edge and the curved part of the blade is the trailing edge , if not too clear i can get a piccy and load on .

no there is no sign of a sticker, its been painted so cant tell. the way ive put it is so that the side that touches the belt pulley is flat, and the side not touching the belt pulley has the rivet heads sticking out.

that sounds about right ,or - if you are standing infront of the car looking at the engine , with a fan blade at the top the curved edge of the blade should be towards the front of the car , tried to load piccy but no luck , hope it helps .

i think mine goes the other way round. looking at the marks that were on the paint from the pulley, its fitted the right way as the same marks of grime/missing paint were on the fan i took off. either way, its blowing air into the radiator, as i felt no air flow over the engine side, but there was airflow going under the wing.
