having upgraded the headlights on my 92 mini mayfair to halogen it has failed mot for the 2nd time not bright enough on dip beam,main beam is ok,is it possible to bridge out the dim/dip relay,done all the usual cleaned connections,earth points etc,any ideas would be most welcome,thanks.

Bit odd. The dim-dip resistor should not be in the circuit when on dip beam. It should be in the circuit for the side lights when the ignition is on only.
