The stainless braid is only there to stop the hose getting melted from the outside, it has nothing to do with the heat inside. It also helps stop abrasion on the internal rubber oil hose.
I would say that this flexible pipe does nothing in the way of excert heat from the oil. How would it do that? To get a real drop in oil temp you will need to fit a cooler. Without a doubt. Even a small 7 row one will help. I would fit an inline thermostat though if its a road car, this will divert the oil away from the cooler until it reaches 80 degrees C. Saves you worrying about not being up to the right temperature.
Just remember though, if oil temp drops, oil pressures goes up.

Oil pressure doesn't really do anything, if the pressure drops it's because you're getting increased flow from the thinner oil - as long as it isn't all sneaking past the running clearances in the pump or a not fully closing relief valve.
