Does anyone own a sealey 140 supermig? I would like to know what the wire feed is like on these machines, as I want it to replace my sip welder which is rubbish.

most of the small welders tend not to have wonderful wire feed to say the least, to be honest doubt you would notice much difference.

Have a look over on mig-welding.co.uk - most people seem to recommend Clarke as having the best wire feed for hobby welders. I have a Clarke 160TM which I bought off the Weldequip shop on there and have had no problems with it,

I have been doin a lot of research into welders lately and the clarke 151te seems to be highly reccommended on the mig welding forum and many other sites! This is the one i have therefore decided to buy! The cheapest place i have found it is  www.tool-net.co.uk

I have a Supermig 185 and it has been brilliant. Bought it 4 years ago.
My brother uses the same one in his bodyshop and its been no bother either. If i remember, it was around £260 when i bought it. I used some of the "hobby" types before buying the Supermig and to be honest, there is no comparison. Loads of settings etc.

The one thing i found with the Clarke welder was when i used the 1kg spool of wire the feed was terrible so much so i ended up damaging the sleeve. However once i went to a 5kg spool then no problems. I had checked the clamp pressure and tried different pressures but it made no difference.

I do believe it was the angle the wire was feeding up to the drive wheel with the 1kg spool causing issues with the tension.
