Hey, I have an original radio cassette player out of a Mini 30 LE, but I have lost the code. Is there any way of finding it out or bypassing it?

It's this radio

Places that fit radios might be able to bypass it. They have on mine before. The code hasn't been writen on the bottom of it has it, I've seen that before aswell. Sometimes the manufacturer can tell you from all the serial numbers and stuff but it's pretty old so maybe not

this reminds me of an old trick (?) in the 80's of people putting these in sealed bags & freezing them overnight to clear the code. I've never actually tried it, so i can't confirm if it works or not!

Well that's random, no idea how that would work, worth a try though!

Ok after a bit of research the freezing method apparently worked for like 1 in 10 radio's in the 80's, but won't work on anything more recent and can ruin the LCD display.

have you tryed the Factory code? Leyland used if i remember rightly from the radio books ive seen for em

most start life as 0000 Or 1234

also radio's ive took to bits have a small battery inside them that stores the code remove that and you remove the code

If you cant find a battery inside, then the memory chip voltage is held with a large electrolytic capacitor. look for where the power supply enters the radio and somewhere near should be the capacitor (probably the largest one on the board). just short it out to kill the stored energy and then if the code is still needed try the "factory set" as stated before. ie, 0000 or 1234.

I wouldnt worry about killing the radio, because its practically dead already :)

If you do find it, there is a way of disabling the code completely I did it with the exact same one when I rigged it up in my garage. I'll have a look through the manual to find out how you do it.

There are a number of chaps on eBay as well.

Although I did mine after searching on Google - all you need is the serial number of the radio.
