Hello all,

I have succesfully cut away the outer wing this evening and have managed to keep the inner wing completely intact as well as the brackets that connect the subframe bolts... Does anyone know if I would still need to add brace bars?

I plan on strengthening the inner wings and the space between the brackets but having managed to seperate the spot welded outer wings it seems daft to cut out the inner wing when it feels so solid already...

I have a couple of days to clean it up and change the suspension so no rush but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

at the moment keeping the inner wings intact keeps you out of BIVA tests

That sounds good as I am massively confused by all that stuff... I didn't think IVA's applied on cars older than 10 years?

Cheers Bungle, I had just found the guys comments on this thread http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/index...\&st=0

Seems I should be OK by pure fluke :)

I will still add some strength to the inner wings as like the thread says they are so flimsy...

Do you have any info on perminently fixing carbon fibre front ends as I am not sure which way to go with it...

The point of a brace bar is to support the front subframe mounts, so yes you will still need brace bars.

I have managed to keep the mounts intact and attached to the inner wing, I had planned on supporting the subframe brackets and inner wings anyway so might as well use brace bars if they fit without having to cut the inner wings away...

if you still have the inner wings and part of the front panel/strengthener in place, then i'd pretty much fit it as a standard front would, but rivet where spot welds would normally go. You'll probably have to make up some small brackets, but i guess it would be easiest, and you could use countersink rivets and fill them so it was an almost seamless finish.
