hey guys, was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

im looking to put some speakers in the mini, so far im thinking, 13cm component speakers up front, 6x9's under the back seat and sub in the boot.

ive found most of it pretty cheap in work, but im just not sure if it will be any good as set ups go.

can anyone give me some advice.

the speakers in question are:

Fusion En cm525

Fusion Fr693

and im still on the look out for a sub, but going for a 10" sub in the boot i think.

generally fusion stuff isnt amazing but at the end of the day it depends what you want out of the set up.

are you going for competitions or do you just want a set up you can hear well and use everyday, if you want the second then they'll be fine as long as you set them up right.

one important thing is the HU, if you want a sub then get a HU with seperate sub level control not just bass adjustment. that way you dont have to hammer your speakers with bass and just turn the gain up on the amp for the sub.

and a 10" in the boot will be good but if you can get one in the cabin it will be better, unless you have some holes on the parcel shelf to let the sound through to the cabin, also make sure the enclosure is the right size for the sub you buy. optimise do pretty good boot install with a good size enclosure for 10s.

hope this helps

thanks for getting back to me,

i only bought those speakers as i found them so cheap in the clearance part in my work, £5 for the component speakers and £10 for the 6x9's i was thinking of mounting the sub on the rear bulkhead instead of in the boot but im not too keen on cutting a 10" diameter hole in it :trooper:/

i was also not planning on running a HU, i was just going to mount a docking station for my iPhone into my centre console and run the out put of that into the input of my amp.

If you cut out the hole, you can always weld it back in!

Thats my rockford sub in my current install in progress.

And perfectly possible to run a line input straight into the amp, however you will loose you eq functions, and an inline gain/attenuator controll is generally a good idea, to give you better controll over the volume.

yeah that makes sense.

probably just mount the sub on the back shelf like you have done looks pretty neat there :trooper:

are building an enclosure behind the sub inside the boot ?

Yep, il be putting an MDF one on the underside of the shelf.

Have a look in your subs handbook and youll find the optimum enclosure size, then you can calculate the diemntions of your enclosure from this, ive posted up how to do it before if you do a search.

nice one, i'll certainly look into it once i get round to sorting out a sub.

at the moment i think al just run the 4 speakers until i can source a cheapish sub.
