noticed my suspension on the front left has dipped lower than the rest. i searched the forum and found other similar topics and people suggested it was the suspension cone. i've taken the wheel off and had a look to see if anything obvious was broken but i couldnt see anything. im a complete begginer so im not really sure what i should be checking for.

if anyone could repost this picture showing me where i should be checking and what for it would really help.

also once i put the wheel back on the suspension went back to normal hieght but half hour later it was low again, dont know if this would help identify the problem

You find anything broken as such - the rubber suspension cone (up in side the subframe) will have aged and become permanently squashed. It is diffucl to tell the difference until you have them on the floor next to a new one.
There is also a chance that the ball joint and nylon cup in the top arm has worn (ender rubber boot almost dead centre of your picture) but again you can't really tell until it is stripped out.

The suspension does take a bit of time to settle back to its running height once the car has been jacked up - that is completely normal.

oh ok cheers. is taking it apart a complex job or is it quiet straight forward? would i need any specialist tools?
also when you say the suspension cone is up in the sub frame does that mean its not visable on the picture? how would you gain access to it if not?cheers.

You will need a ball joint splitter and a couple of sockets and spanners and also a cone compressor.

The cone is up inside that tower in the middle of the picture, if you look up there you will see the trumpet and the cone itself ontop.
