May be a silly question but would still be interested to know the answer.

What is the benefit of using a heated inlet manifold?

I have seen lots over the the years not connected as is mine.

And how would i connect mine while it still has a heater take off valve?

Always wondered this myself, be interesting to see what it does, never bothered with mine

be warned, many people have different views on this:P some say about how you want cold air(cold air induction) and others say that its good to have it connected up because it helps with atomisation:)

it just takes some getting used to

need to go to advanced options and change the search prefrences

It allows you to fit a large bore zorst system instead of cutting a std manifold apart. It also has a bypass along the top to run water through (as its name suggests). You can use it without using the water bypass bit.

dont bother with it unless you have problems with carb icing

Yes it helps warm the charge. You could also argue it keeps the temp of the manifold down but due to the size of the mini manifold and its relative volume flowing water through it is next to useless unlike more modern cars that have huge inlet manifolds that take some heating.

If you have no "hot spot" on the inlet manifold like the cast iron manifolds have, then you need to heat the manifold up to stop it icing up.
Although this isnt a problem on a Mini, normally, but if you had the correct conditions this could be a problem.
I have had this problem before on a car and it was a **** to find.
