Description of problem
Hi
I am just in the process of fitting new front panel, wings and a panels. Can anyone shed any light on how the front panel fastens, the one i have just removed was a replacement and had been welded on the two brackets that lap onto the inner wings but looking at the rubber bush mounts adjacent to these i am thinking there should possibly be movement there.
What is the best way of filling the gap between the scuttle and wing?
Whilst fitting the drivers scuttle repair panel i had a bit of a fire (i should have removed the dash DOH!) nothing major but there is slight damage to the wires going up the drivers roof pillar. I had taken great care not to damage them when welding the top seam too. I know some will be for the electric roof, anyone know if there are any more going up there. I need to try and free them off under the headlining to pull them into the car a few inches just to ensure they are repaired correctly
Thanks
Gary
Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?

The gap between the wing and scuttle can either be left alone (not my choice) or use some seam seam sealer and force into the gap. DO NOT use filler it will crack. If you can lead load then go that route but that is a skilled job, iv'e seen it done and it does look the mutts nuts but not on a mini.
I would also recommend forcing as much paint as possible into the gap before sealing it.

The front panel should mount in 2 ways, there is a shaped bracket that fits on the outside of the inner wing, spot weld or seam weld this in place. There is an L shaped bracket that should fit to the inside of the inner wing and is spot welded to the front of the front panel and to the inner wing. So there are two places on both sides of the inner wings.

We pulled ours up on Project Erm to prevent damage, we fully disconnected all of the connections to pull it up but before that i used a section of washing line and tied that to the loom so we could pull the loom back down.
