Sprite 1275cc carb HIF38
1993 k reg
Im looking at a 'CBS' cap on ebay and the seller says its in the catalogue up to 92' and it is non-vented.
Will it fit mine? im assuming the neck where it locks on is the same.
I want to replace mine as it no longer seems that tights when on and the seal underneath the cap has perished
meaning when full tank some appears to run down the bodywork.

Is My Petrol Cap Vented Or Not?

Only difference is the vented cap has a maze to let air in and our where as the non-vented does not. I think I got vented fitted to my Hornet but I have a tank breather pipe. So could go non-vented if I wanted.

Thanks might just order and see if it works im guessing if it is wrong one i.e mine needs to be vented the car would most likely stop after a certain time
because tanke be sealed with a non-vented cap!
Will take old cap with me to hehe!
Or could i do some serious damage using a non-vented cap when its meant to be vented?

I think I've got a vented on my Sprite of the same year, finally found an old metal 70's one that the little *insert your own word here* can't remove with a screwdriver, had no problems...
The stain you refer to is because you've been overfilling the tank me thinks...
Aren't the non-vented ones for the SPI which have a pressurised fuel tank?
Actually I think I had a non-ventilated one on as standard (but I can't remember if the tank has a breather??), I think it'll only cause problems on a SPI, might be worth contacting minispares or another good supplier and asking, because as I type this I'm now not sure!

If your tank is vented, all saloon tanks have been for a very long time, it won't matter (unvented could help prevent spills).

Thanks all, I also though it cant really be coming from tank when i inset nozel there is like a small flap to just large enough to get an unleaded nozzle in then it springs back when nozzle is removed. Think my line of fuel i see maybe where its gone in to the over cap i have thats like flip top thing from mini spares.
I will order one and see as it be nice to have a newer one and its not to expensive either!!
