Hi all,

I've posted here about water getting into my mini a few weeks ago so on Monday i replaced all the rubber seals on my mini including the check strap seals. On Tuesday night we had a lot of rain up here in the morning i got up and went and checked the car for water bone dry. On wednesday night we had a little bit of a shower not as much Tuesday so this morning i went to check it and there was a duck pond in the rear passengers foot well, i just cannot understand where all that water came from. All the rear quater inside is dry and the car hasnt been out on a wet road since i got it. has anyone else had this problem? Could there be a hole somewere in the body that im just not seeing?

Just the passenger side?

Sure its not from the heater then?

Defo not from the heater, it's in the rear floor pan not the front. Surley if the heater was leaking then there would be water in the front also?

Get someone to sit inside while you go round with a hose pipe & see if they can see it coming in :trooper:

Could well be the rear 1/4 seal, mines does it sometimes in heavy rain or when im washing it, i went on holiday and left a mini mag on the rear bench, came back and it was completely sodden, good job i left it there really else my carpeted rear bench would have been right soggy o.O

Tried this paying close attention to the rear quater and nothing came in, is it possible that it is sitting somewhere and seeping in slowly through the seals? Dont understand how that amount of water could be sitting somewhere

I've got pretty much the same problem. i keep finding water in my passenger side footwell, and i can figure out where its comming from?! i know my radiator keeps losing water, all the time, and the car seems to get really hot when i have all the windows up. I think that it could be a blocked pipe within the circuit of the rad and the heater and its leaking into the car?

Not sure.

Any help is greatly appreciated :trooper:

Ive got the same problem with mine. Ive traced mine to the rubber seal along the passenger side front window. It leaks through as the rubber doesnt make a good seal with the window. Then it goes down through the door and into the footwell. In heavy rain i just jam something in the window on the inside to push the window onto the rubber seal outside the car. Hope that helps to discover the leak, if you find a way ov curing it let me know

Cheers

The seal along the window is not designed to keep water out. Its a weatherstrip. The water then runs down the inside of the door and should run out the bottom. Its essential to make sure that the drain holes on the bottom of the door are clear. Also, a lot of people work at their doors and forget to reseal around the window winder mechanism resulting in water making its way from the inner part of the door frame and in between the door swab and the panel. This then runs into the passenger compartment.
Just out of curiosity, when your car is parked, is it on a level surface or is it parked at an angle?

Make sure the drain holes in the sill are not blocked (or plated over if a repair job has been done!). If they are, water can build up and leak into the footwells.
