I've got a little problem with my headlights ...
When i push the lever out to full beam they work fine , but when i put it back in to normal driving beams it only lightens up 10 cm in front on the car but there is still light.
What could this be ?
Thanks
Lewis

1. sidelight. Operated when you press the dashboard switch "half way" on. (the small bulb in the headlight)
2. dip beam. when you press the dash switch fully on. (the larger bulb)
3. Main beam. when you click the stalk forwards. (the larger bulb, but a different filament)
for main to work, you must have the light switch fully on, unless you PULL the stalk, in which case the main beam flashes.
From the sounds of it, your dip has failed. on both lights?
either wiring or bulb. if it's both, then it's more than likely a wiring problem. Check the fuses in the engine bay, check all of the connections to the switch, and in the engine bay to the headlights. you may have to replace the lighting relay behind the dashboard (usually drivers side in the UK, but i don't know if it's LHD). If it's only one, then probably the bulb.

you have effectively 3 lights in the headlight.
1. sidelight. Operated when you press the dashboard switch "half way" on. (the small bulb in the headlight)
2. dip beam. when you press the dash switch fully on. (the larger bulb)
3. Main beam. when you click the stalk forwards. (the larger bulb, but a different filament)

Ive found the problem, but i dont know what to do next, it seems to be the copper strip of metal where the switch is, when i press it in they work and when i dont they dont work. Can i replace this strip or do i have to buy a whole new unit ?
I've tried bending it back together but it doesnt seem to do anything, ( its the strip that goes from the bullet connection from the red and blue wire across to the connection point for the lights the one that gets pushed out when pushing the lever out )
:/
