Having bought a rotten shell with all the bits needed in various boxes i have now made the shell not rotten and painted it (old english white with a black roof) and now i am attempting to put it back together which is fine until i realised the comedy in trying to work with electrical things simple as they are as i am just useless in every way with wires.
Does anybody understand this or know of any websites that explains it to an idiot. not just to an idiot because i feel like more like a complete retard with all of this as i don't have a clue what is going on. I have looked at wiring diagrams and then guides on how to read wiring diagrams but they all just make me more confused.
Suggestions other than cry and then stare then cry some more as i have tried that and it doesn't seem to be working.
Please

What age & model is it?
If the loom is in decent knick don't think of it as wiring, just another component to fit. Lay it out somewhere to approximate how it fits the car then try and identify (and label) all the connectors by the wire colours
Autosparks have a list of conventional wire colours on their site, most (but not all) of the Mini's wiring complies. You can also cross reference your wiring diagram, but remember it's like the London Underground map - totally without any scale or proportion but with all the "stations" in the right order along the "tracks"
